Hierarchical
spreadsheets are the natural, intuitive way to do
analyses |
|
|
|
|
| A
B-liner analysis is a break down of
something into its component parts to any
desired level of detail. A set of properties
or attributes are displayed under each part
showing the relationship of the parts to
each other and to the whole. |

|
| The example
above is an analysis of a direct mailing.
The mailing is broken down into customers
and prospects. Customers are further
categorized into 'Recent', 'Frequent web
visitors' and 'Other'. The things of
interest (properties) in this analysis are
the number of pieces sent, the number of
responses received and the return
rate. These properties are displayed
in a grid under each category.
B-liner is a
flexible general purpose analysis tool that
is used in many different disciplines and
professions. Most analyses are not "one
of a kind" but fit into a pattern. For
example, each direct mailing is analyzed in
exactly the same way. Typically, the
original analysis template or boiler plate
is built by an analyst or domain specialist.
These templates are then used routinely to
evaluate, guide, set standards and help make
decisions in day-to-day operations.

|
|
|
| B-liner gives you a
flexible, powerful visualization
environment. It is simple and easy to use and
keeps you focused. You see the whole picture and
the relationship between the parts. Any changes
are immediately reflected in the entire analysis.
You can quickly analyze different options and scenarios.
The spreadsheet
has an extensive set of functions to handle the
most demanding analyses. |

The analysis can be saved in different formats.
For example, you can share analyses on the web
as html
or integrate the information using XML |

| "B-liner
helps us to analyze complex issues and
problems and, perhaps more
importantly, share the analysis with
others through a simple powerful form.
B-liner is an essential part of my
analytical toolkit." |
